Saint Michael's Mount

St Michael's Mount, Marazion TR17, UK

Wonderful place, reminds me a lot of Mont St Michel in Normandy, France. Full day car parking reasonable, not national trust discount though. Got the boat to the island in the morning due to tides (£2 per adult passenger) and walked back across the causeway in the afternoon. Cafe was a little expensive but free village tour was very insightful. Tough walk up to the castle but views of the bay were amazing. Interesting castle and church. Highly recommended day out.

Well it has been 30 years since my first visit to saint Michael's mount and it's just as stunning as I remembered. This iconic landmark is something everyone should do before they die or get too old, my 10 years old son and I got the boat across from the edge of Cornwall. The boat cost £1 for kids and £2 for adults, this is one way. If the causeway is open you will be able to walk across and depending on tides walk back to land. The actual walk up to the house situated on the mount is demanding for some as it ascends quite steeply. If you are a member of the national trust (£7/8) per month then entry to the mount is free. The views from the mount and the turrets of the mount are quite special.
